Objectives
The Vario Health Institute is committed to optimising the health and well-being of citizens across their lifespan, taking into account differing socio-economic, cultural, political and environmental contexts. To achieve this, the Institute aims to:
- Forge research links between disciplines: to broaden our understanding of how age, gender, nutrition, exercise, substance abuse, stress, self-esteem, social interaction, connectedness, urban planning, law enforcement and regulatory instruments, affect the quality of our everyday life and health.
- Develop and evaluate practical solutions: for the prevention and early detection of pressing health problems, by incorporating research and learning into the community setting and enhancing capacity for cooperation across a range of public and private health service providers.
- Inform future generations of decisions-makers: on effective guidelines and interventions for redefining local, national and international policies for dealing with pressing health needs.
- Build commitment for the creation of supportive working, learning and living environments: to promote the healthy personal, social, emotional, and intellectual development of students, staff and the broader community.
